About half of the world population lives in urban areas, but in japan the scenario is more than 90 percent. With the increasing percentage, Japan have already developed its own solution to fight all the problems by being smart. In Japan, smaller communities are using technology like internet of things and ideals like sharing economy to become more sustainable.
There are two Japanese town which are taken as an examples around the world for its sustainability. Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town and Kashiwanoha. These both town have their own energy system and can support itself for 3 days. Thy have solar panels and smart monitoring systems. They monitor their own CO2 level and have encouraged to cycle and use and share electric vehicles. They have developed the sustainable lifestyle based urban development and management.
